While tracking the arrancar, Matsumoto and Shōta discover that its song can force pluses to walk themselves into its jaws. Furthermore, it can multiply itself seemingly without limit, leaving dozens of copies of itself for Hitsugaya’s team to dispatch. A researcher from the 12th Division later explains that another arrancar is creating the copies, hence their inability to die. Despite the large number of copies, they are no match for the shinigami and thus are quickly dispatched. Afterwards, Shōta finds the person he was searching for: his sister, Yui. Before they died, Yui liked to play the ocarina, the tune of which is reminiscent of the arrancar’s. While Hitsugaya’s team tracks any stray clones that may have escaped destruction, the clones mass yet another attack while a larger, more humanoid arrancar emerges to watch. During the confusion, Yui runs off to the park where she was originally found, where Shōta admits that he abandoned her out of fear.
